Sight worse after surgery

by Jimmy
(Columbia Md.)

I was assured that the surgery would lower my eye pressure after I had glaucoma surgery. My vision was good before surgery. Just needed glasses for reading. After surgery, my eye pressure was much higher than before surgery and my eyesight is terrible in that eye. I have no peripheral vision. The doctor tried all types of drops but did not lower eye pressure. I am a carpenter and I cannot see how to screw something in. After 6 months of no change, I went to another doctor & he did laser surgery and the pressure went down right away. I don't know if anything can be done to improve my vision, but if I had known my vision would be gone, I would not have surgery. I wish I had grounds to sue her.

Hi Jimmy,

I am experiencing the same problem as you, always assurances, assurances, promises, promises, those docs do not know what they are talking about. The only thing they tell you is that if you don't have certain surgery to save your sight, you will go blind. Of course, they are trying to save your sight but to what extent, and traumatization !!! Please ask the doc if you could have another safe surgery or would you still lose vision if you don't.
