My postop experience

I had surgery long back in 1995 when i was a kid. Earlier my vision was good, but as time passes gradually my vision is deteriorating and the blurriness has increased earlier. I used to wear normal glasses but now I have to wear progressive lenses... Can you please suggest any solution for this? Thanks in advance.

Dear Sumit

I am not sure what surgery you had in 1995 as a kid, but I am assuming that it was either strabismus surgery or cataract surgery.

Either way, it is part of the normal aging process to need reading glasses as we grow older - this is called presbyopia. This process is accelerated if you have had cataract surgery. Having to wear progressive lenses nearly 20 years down the line can therefore be considered 'normal'.

Another possibility for blurriness after cataract surgery is posterior capsular opacification, which can be treated easily with laser. You can read more about this here: www.vision-and-eye-health.com/cataractsurgery-complications-late.html

Kind regards,
Brian
