Cataract surgery

After my cataract surgery my eyes have not been the same. My doc says they are fine. Says it's chronic dry eye. My eyes hurt and are blurry. I do all they tell me to do... moist, heat, antibiotic drops, night ointment, eye wash, refresh eye drops about every half hour. Nothing helps the constant pain and discomfort. It's ruined my life. I don't know what to do.

Painin surgery eye
by: Pat

I had left eye Cataract surgery 3 weeks ago. I woke up with pain and a blood shot red in that eye. This is the first discomfort I have had. I don’t know what to do. Can anyone advise me on what to do.

my solution to eye issues after cataract surgery
by: Diana

I had all your same issues, tried all the same things you were told and then I got a bottle of Theratears eye lubricant and used it faithfully about 4 times a day making sure it got into my eyes. I pulled lower lid out kinda forming a pocket and put the drop in it. Kept eyes closed for about thirty seconds. After about two weeks the dry itchy burning went away. I now do it every morning when I wake and at night before going to bed. Hope this helps, it did me.

It has been 5 months since my surgery! My vision is terrible and eyes are scratchy and blurred! My doctor says my vision is 20/20 and 20/25, Then, why do have problems seeing? My eyes exhaust me!

Eye irritation
by: Anonymous

You didn't say how long it's been since your surgery. I had both eyes done just over a year ago. I had some scratchiness from dry eyes off and on for a while after the surgery. It felt like I had something like a grain of sand in my right eye. I found that moisturizing drops did help. The problem has improved considerably over time and now is only a minor issue. I've been so overjoyed at my vastly improved vision that the slight dryness has not been a big problem for me. I hope that some additional time will help your situation.

Exactly how I feel. Wish I could be more encouraging, but I've had almost four years of such misery since my surgery. Best of luck to you. Hope things improve. I will say it has gotten a bit better for me, but nothing like my life used to be before.
